Project Summary:

In 2015, CodeRed Business Solutions Inc. (CRBS) was requested to help NYPA assess and advance its Asset Management program. Our team conducted an initial gap assessment of NYPA’s Asset Management capability against the 39 Global Forum for Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM) subjects. The output of this assessment was used to inform a Roadmap of Asset Management Improvement activities that cross-referenced the GFMAM 39 Subjects against the ISO 55001 standard. In addition, CRBS reviewed NYPA’s proposed Reliability Centered Maintenance Implementation plan. This plan utilizes the Maximo Enterprise Asset Management System to collect critical asset information supporting New York. New York Power Authority’s objective is to transform into a Predictive Maintenance organization, enhancing its capacity to minimize maintenance expenses. After the evaluation and strategic plan, NYPA requested services to deliver a comprehensive range of solutions, comprising:

  • Development of NYPA’s first Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), covering Generation and Transmission Assets
  • Support developing regional Asset Management Plans (AMP) for each NYPA’s Operational Regions. The AMPs used a risk-based approach to identify the work required on the assets and provided vital input to NYPA’s capital planning process.
  • Development and implementation of Performance Management Framework to
  • evaluate the performance of its assets, Asset Management processes, and more comprehensive operational activities. This included defining KPIs and processes for collecting, evaluating, and reporting data against each.
  • NYPA prepared for and successfully undertook a certification audit of its Asset Management System to ISO 55001 in 2019. This includes a wide range of support and services across all ISO clauses, along with performing two’ mock audits’ as final preparation ahead of the actual audit.
  • NYPA’s Information Technology (IT) department engaged with AMCL to review its IT Asset Management capabilities and gaps against the ISO 19770 standard for IT Asset Management Systems.
  • Training and interactive stakeholder workshops to assist in the development of NYPA’s Asset Management competencies and management of change.
  • Development of a business case for Asset Management within NYPA that provides valuable justification to NYPA’s stakeholders for continued Asset Management efforts.
