Project Summary:

CodeRed Business Solutions Inc. (CRBS) supported Task #3, Maintenance Information System Implementation Support for Trapeze MCRS2 Optimization Project for Rolling Stock Assets. CRBS facilitated a team of subject matter experts who would work as an extension of MBTA’s professional maintenance staff. Through this teaming effort, CRBS was better positioned to understand and address the needs of all levels of the MBTA maintenance organizations and the ultimate goals of the MBTA team. This, in turn, permitted the combined MBTA team to support the optimization of the new software to provide MBTA with the best possible outcomes. CRBS’ initial evaluations focused on reviewing business processes and developing new training requirements due to COVID-19 concerns throughout the transportation industry.


CRBS assisted in identifying issues and managing risk in the delivery of the Trapeze contract. However, as the Trapeze team, we were the developers and implementors of the software package. The program’s success and timeliness were based on the developer’s ability to provide and manage adequate and appropriate resources. The prime contractor’s team provided the contracted services in support of this program to the limits of the task budget. However, the progress of the implementation itself was driven by the responsiveness of Trapeze.

Accomplishments:

  • Researched possible solutions for developing interactive training and provided training options for the client.
  • Provided recommendations of industry best practices for EAM implementation.
  • Provided a critical review of the Business Process Assessment created by Trapeze for the MBTA.
  • Created PowerPoint presentations, including embedded videos and step-by-step instructions on how to:
    • Equipment Class, Equipment Manufacturer, Equipment Type, and Model
    • A new Bus record
    • A new Rail record
    • A new Non-Revenue Vehicle record
    • Manage Parts, including Serialized Parts, Components, Parts Kits, Stockroom Transfers
    • Manage Fuel and Meter issues
  • Delivered electronic copies of all developed presentations and videos.
