Project Summary:
CodeRed Business Solutions Inc. (CRBS) began its onsite support in August 2020. The MBTA initiated this contract to support Boston’s Commuter Rail division’s ability to track the purchase of spare parts utilized in the maintenance of MBTA Commuter Rail cars. Tracking was initiated by a third-party vendor responsible for all maintenance activities. The ability to track and perform a detailed analysis of the use of these spare parts with corresponding work orders was key to reducing parts inventories and overall maintenance costs.
One of the key features of this contract was to develop procedures/SOPs for using Trapeze EAM software to confirm/verify the use of parts ordered by maintenance personnel in the repair of commuter rail cars. In addition, CodeRed personnel verified the tagging and return of valuable unserviceable parts to the appropriate manufacturer for rehabilitation and transition to a serviceable condition.
Accomplishments:
- Trained MBTA and Contractor personnel on analysis capabilities found within Trapeze EAM
- Developed Standard Operating Procedures to oversee and control MBTA Railroad Ops inventory valued at approximately $30M.
- Created Tableau dashboards with quick/context/global filters, parameters, and calculated fields that allowed tracking and improving KPIs for Inventory, Cycle Counts, Purchase Orders, Requisitions, and Consumption
- We created Trapeze Ad Hoc Queries specific to requisitions, purchase orders, adjustments, none on hand, consumption, and cycle counts.
- Trained newly hired MBTA personnel for the monitoring requirements to cover Cycle Counts and Inventory Variance, Parts Request/Parts Picking, Parts Issuance, Inter-Warehouse Transport, Inventory Checks, Return to Stock, and Material Stocking activities who will carry out these procedures in the future.
