Project Summary:
The Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) requested a project to improve their operations, maintenance, and corporate processes in a way that directly benefits the customers who use their services. One of the main focuses of this project was to implement predictive maintenance processes, specifically Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).
To carry out this project, CodeRed Business Solutions Inc. (CRBS) provided support across all aspects, with a particular emphasis on RCM best practices. In Phase 1, the project team conducted a comprehensive review of the data stored in PATH’s work order system. This analysis helped identify the strengths and weaknesses of their current data analytics program and offered various options to address any issues discovered.
Moving on to Phase 2, CRBS worked closely with PATH’s car maintenance team to identify potential issues with the state of good repair of their growing fleet of PA-5 heavy railcars. The analysis involved reviewing subsystem performance, evaluating components, and coordinating between capital and operating maintenance programs. During this study, the team identified a potential issue that could affect the availability of the fleet.
To address the identified issues and ensure sufficient, high-quality railcars for their demanding service program, CodeRed Business Solutions Inc. supported the fleet maintenance department in developing and implementing a comprehensive overhaul program. This program aims to enhance reliability and, importantly, has the potential to reduce overall costs for PATH.
